Saving beats

Heart icons, save limits, undo, sharing.

How do I save a beat?

Tap the heart icon on any beat card or in the player. Free users get 10 saves; Pro is unlimited. Saving routes the beat to your library and feeds the recommendation algorithm so the next ones get better.

I un-saved a beat by accident — can I undo?

Yes. After any save/unsave, a toast appears at the bottom with an "Undo" button — tap it within 4 seconds and the action reverts. If the toast already disappeared, just save the beat again.

Can I share a saved beat?

Open the beat detail page and tap Share. You'll get a link with a beautiful preview card that unfurls on Twitter, iMessage, Discord, and Slack. The link goes to the public beat page — anyone with the URL can see it without an account.

How do I export my saved beats?

Account → "Export saves" returns a JSON file with every saved beat, your folders, your notes. We don't lock data in.

Folders

Organizing saves into projects.

How do I create a folder?

Long-press the heart on any beat to open the folder picker. Tap "+ New folder," name it, save. Free users get 3 folders; Pro is unlimited.

What's the difference between folders and saves?

A save is a bookmark — you've flagged the beat as worth coming back to. A folder is an organizational layer on top: "for the EP," "Saturday night vibe," "demo kept missing." A beat can be in multiple folders or none.

Smart folder suggestions — what are those?

When 5+ of your recent saves cluster around a single genre or BPM band, we show a banner suggesting a folder name. Tap "Make it" to pre-populate the folder name; dismiss to hide for 24 hours.

What does Pro unlock?

Unlimited saves + folders, the 24-beat daily drop (free is 8), drop alerts when followed producers post, Find My Sound's full power, all songwriting tools, /wrapped, /compat, accent color customization, streak freeze, advanced filters.

How does the 14-day trial work?

Every new account gets 14 days of full Pro access automatically. No credit card required. After 14 days you drop to free unless you subscribe — your saves/folders/notes all stay, but Pro features lock.

What's Founders Lifetime?

$149 once. Pro forever, including everything we add to Pro in the future. Capped at 250 buyers — the cap is enforced server-side and the lifetime tier disappears from the app the moment 250 sell. /founders has the rest.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes — Apple manages iOS subs (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). Stripe-managed web subs cancel at /account. Either way, no questions asked, no nag screens.

Songwriting tools

How do I open the songwriting workspace?

From any saved beat, tap the 📝 Notes button. The bottom sheet has the auto-saving notepad, status pills (draft/writing/recorded/released/shelved), word + bar count, structure tags, rhyme finder, idea spark, and the lyric expander.

What's the lyric expander?

Tap "⚡ Next bar" — we read your last line, fetch rhymes for the last word, and propose three plausible follow-up bars in roughly the right syllable count. Tap any to drop it into your note.

Can I share a note with a co-writer?

Yes. Tap the "↗ Co-write" button in the notes header. We mint a share link; whoever opens it (and signs in) can edit the note in real time alongside you. Both your handles show in the sheet.

For producers

How we index, claim flow, opt-out.

How does StudioMode find my beats?

Our scraper runs twice a day pulling fresh "type beat" uploads from across YouTube. We auto-classify by genre, BPM, key, license, and producer. We never re-host audio — every "Get this beat" tap routes back to your original drop.

How do I claim my profile?

Visit /for-producers. We email you a verification code, you drop it in your YouTube channel description for an hour, you're verified. Claimed producers get a green check, custom links, save analytics, and the ability to feature pinned beats.

I want my beats removed.

Email hello@studiomode.app with "de-list" in the subject and your channel name. We respond within 24 hours and de-list everything from that channel within the same window. No questions asked.

Can I get my embed/badge?

/embed-builder for the player widget, /badge for the live "Featured on StudioMode" badge with your beat + save counts. Both are free and update automatically.

How does the producer leaderboard work?

The leaderboard at /producers ranks producers by save count over a window — 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. Saves come from logged-in artists, not bots, so the metric is hard to game. We re-aggregate every page load using a database RPC, so the rankings reflect what's actually moving right now. Read why we picked this metric.

Why am I not on the leaderboard?

Three things move you up: (1) post consistently in a tight lane so artists know what they're getting, (2) tag your beats clearly with BPM and key so they surface in search, (3) list at least one free-for-profit option to lower the friction to a save. The leaderboard window is 7 days by default — recent saves matter more than historical totals.

What's the 🏆 #N this week badge?

If you're in the top 20 of the 7-day leaderboard, your producer profile shows a 🏆 #N this week pill, and the share OG image includes the badge in its upper-right corner. Producers ranked in the top 20 are encouraged to share their profile — every share that comes back as a save lifts the rank further.

Troubleshooting

Player issues, sync, sign-in, missing beats.

The YouTube player won't autoplay.

iOS Safari + the YouTube iframe enforce a "user gesture" rule for autoplay. If you opened the app cold, tap any beat once to give us the gesture; subsequent autoplays then work. The player will prompt you with a play button in the corner if it can't autoplay.

I saved a beat on iOS but don't see it on web.

Sync is server-side via your account. Make sure you're signed in to the same email/account on both. Pull-to-refresh on /my-list. If still missing, email us — we can check the server-side state.

Can't find a beat I know exists.

Search by producer name + key keyword (e.g. "Internet Money Heaven"). If nothing returns, the beat may not be indexed yet — drop the YouTube URL in the in-app feedback and we'll prioritize the producer's channel in the next scrape.

Privacy + data

What we collect, what we don't, your controls.

What data do you collect?

Email, your saves, your folders, your notes, app usage events (saves, plays, skips). That's it. We don't track your location, contacts, or anything outside the app. Full details at /privacy.

Do you sell my data?

No. We never sell, share, or transfer user data to third parties for marketing. The only third parties that see your data are the technical providers we use to run the service (Supabase for the database, Vercel for hosting, RevenueCat for subscriptions, Resend for email).

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Account → "Delete account." Removes all your data within 24 hours. We can't recover it after deletion — that's by design.
