StudioMode ("we", "us") is a beat discovery service. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled.
What we collect
- Account data: email address and password hash (managed by Supabase Auth — we never see your raw password).
- Usage data: beats you save, beats you click through to, search queries you submit, and your subscription tier.
- Technical data: IP address, user agent, and referer when you click through to a beat — used to log click counts and detect abuse.
- Payment data (paid tiers only): handled by Stripe. We never store card numbers; Stripe gives us a customer ID and subscription status only.
What we do not collect
- We do not record audio or video.
- We do not access your microphone, camera, photos, or contacts.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
How we use your data
- To run the service: keep you logged in, sync your saved beats across devices, enforce search rate limits.
- To improve the AI search model — anonymized aggregate query patterns help us tune Claude's filter parsing.
- To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets) — never marketing without your opt-in.
Third-party services
Your rights
You can:
- Export your data — sign in, go to Account → "Download my data (.json)". The download contains every row tied to your account: saved beats, folders, notes, follows, listening history, profile. Or email hello@studiomode.app if you'd prefer a manual export.
- Delete your account — sign in, go to Account → "Delete my account". Permanent, instant, and confirmed twice before it fires. Wipes saved beats, folders, follows, search history, reactions, and the auth row in one transaction.
- Opt out of any non-essential email at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or via Account → Notification settings.
EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR including data portability (Art. 20 — covered by the JSON export above), rectification (Art. 16 — email us), and erasure (Art. 17 — covered by Delete my account). California residents have rights under CCPA including the right to know (covered by the JSON export) and the right to delete (covered by Delete my account). All self-serve flows fulfill the request instantly without manual review.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account exists. Click logs are retained for 90 days for analytics, then aggregated and the IP-level rows are deleted. Search logs follow the same 90-day window.
Children
StudioMode is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will trigger an in-app notice and an email to active users.
