What is StudioMode?

What does the app actually do?

StudioMode is an AI-powered discovery engine for free-for-profit and licensed beats. Every morning we hunt the latest drops across YouTube, classify them by genre, BPM, key, and mood, and serve them in a personalized feed that learns your sound with every save.

Who's it for?

Working artists who burn time hunting beats. Singers, rappers, songwriters, content creators, anyone who needs a steady supply of the right kind of instrumentals and doesn't want to scroll YouTube for an hour to find one.

iOS only?

Yes for v1.0. Android and web are on the roadmap โ€” same React Native codebase, just need to ship them properly. If you want them sooner, email us and tell us so.

Pricing

What's the free tier?

Browse Recent + Trending. 12 daily curated picks (Today's Drop). Save up to 10 beats. Up to 3 folders. Free + Lease beats. Beat of the Day. Producers Blowing Up.

What does Pro unlock?

Today's Drop ยท Extended (24 beats vs 12). Find My Sound AI search. Sound Boards (six themed daily mixes). Listening analytics (top genres / producers / 7-30-90 day trends). BPM range filter. Unlimited saves and folders. ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž algorithm feedback.

How much is Pro?

$9.99/month, $79.99/year (33% off vs monthly), or $149 one-time for a Founders Lifetime seat โ€” capped at the first 250 buyers.

Why is Founders Lifetime capped?

Two reasons: (1) it generates a meaningful capital injection at launch that we put toward marketing, (2) capping it protects long-term economics โ€” letting unlimited people buy lifetime would crater LTV. Once 250 sell, the tier disappears for good.

Is the price ever going up?

For users on monthly or annual: probably yes, eventually, the way every subscription product does. We'll grandfather existing subscribers at their current price for 12 months minimum if we raise. Founders Lifetime users are immune by definition.

Licensing

Are these beats really free to use?

The free-for-profit beats are free to use commercially as long as the producer's posted terms allow it. We classify each beat with our AI and surface a confidence score. When confidence is below 70%, we show an in-app warning telling you to verify the license terms on the producer's original page before commercial use.

Who actually owns the rights?

The producer. Always. StudioMode is a discovery layer โ€” we don't issue licenses, we don't claim ownership, we don't take a cut. Every "Get Beat" tap sends you to the producer's original drop. Their license terms govern what you can do with the beat.

What if I get a copyright strike using a "free" beat?

Take it down and reach out โ€” both to the producer and to us. Email hello@studiomode.app with the beat URL and we'll investigate. If our classifier mislabeled the license, that's our bug and we'll fix it. The producer's actual terms are what matter โ€” always verify on their original page before commercial release.

The AI

How does the AI learn my taste?

Every save, like, skip, search, and follow feeds the recommendation engine. The model weights recent activity heavier than old (recency decay). Saves count more than plays. Follows count more than saves. Reactions (๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž) count most.

How long until it gets good?

Decent within a week if you're actively using it. Clearly personalized after a month. The first few days lean on your onboarding picks โ€” the more accurate those are, the faster the algo locks in.

What if my taste changes?

Two paths. The algo naturally adapts via recency decay. Or you go to Account โ†’ ๐Ÿง  Reset my algorithm and pick a soft reset (clears reactions + search history, keeps saves) or full reset (wipes everything, sends you back to onboarding to rebuild). Your call.

Can I see what the AI thinks I sound like?

Yes โ€” Pro users get a Listening Analytics page showing top genres and top producers across 7/30/90 day windows. Free users see a simpler version on the account tab.

Producers

I'm a producer โ€” how do I get my beats in StudioMode?

You don't have to do anything. Our scraper finds publicly-uploaded beats automatically twice a day. Use your normal upload format and we'll pick them up. Want to make sure your work shows up? Email us and we'll boost you in the trending section.

How do I get out?

Email hello@studiomode.app from the email associated with your channel. We de-list within 24 hours, no questions.

Will I lose YouTube streams?

The opposite. Every play happens on YouTube via the official iframe API โ€” your views, watch time, and channel growth all count. Plus we drive new traffic from artists actively looking for beats.

Technical

Why YouTube specifically?

Because that's where the catalog lives. The vast majority of free-for-profit beats are uploaded as YouTube videos with licensing terms in the description. Producers post on BeatStars/Airbit too, but the YouTube layer is the deepest.

Does it work offline?

The catalog needs internet. Saved beat metadata caches locally so you can browse your library offline, but playback requires an active YouTube embed โ€” that's a YouTube limitation, not ours.

What devices does it work on?

iOS 15+ for v1.0. Tested down to iPhone 11. iPad supported. Android coming.

Account

How do I delete my account?

Account tab โ†’ Delete account. Two-stage confirmation. Wipes all your data plus the auth row. Your email becomes reusable.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS Settings โ†’ your Apple ID โ†’ Subscriptions โ†’ StudioMode โ†’ Cancel. Apple handles all subscription management โ€” we can't cancel for you. Pro features stay active until the period you've paid for ends.

Refunds?

Apple processes them. Open the receipt email Apple sent you, or visit reportaproblem.apple.com. They usually approve refunds within 14 days, sometimes longer.
